Community members and activists arrived at City Hall Wednesday expecting to deliver over 2,000 petitions to the council.

They're demanding action on oil trains, but nobody came to accept their delivery. The event is part of the national oil trains week of action. Activists want people to know what would happen if a train carrying oil were to derail or run into a car.

"The train cars would breach, a spark would catch the oil and that would cause the trail cars to explode," Jennifer Kunze, Maryland Organizer with Action Clean Water, said.

The petition delivery was for the council to pass a bill that would require health and risk checks for trains coming through the Baltimore area.
