Closing arguments are expected Monday in the trial against Officer William Porter. The jury could get the case as early as Monday afternoon.
The defense rested on Friday after calling Capt. Justin Reynolds to the stand. Reynolds testified about the seat belt policy, a policy that had been changed just days prior to Freddie Gray's arrest.
Reynolds said the new policy, which stated all suspects had to be restrained in police vans, should have been read during roll call after it took effect.
The defense said that never happened. Officer Porter maintains he wasn't aware of the policy change at the time of Gray's arrest.
The jury will get the case once closing arguments wrap up.
Last week, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake put out a plea for order and calm once the jury makes its final decision.
Porter is the first of six officers tried in the death of Freddie Gray. He faces four charges including involuntary manslaughter and reckless endangerment.
It's not clear how long the jury will deliberate once they get the case.
