City Councilwoman Rochelle "Rikki" Spector was assaulted and robbed inside of a parking garage Friday morning, according to police.
The councilwoman told police she got into her car in the unit block of Pierside Drive when she was approached by two young men she didn't know.
Police said the young men assaulted Spector and threw her to the ground before driving away in her car. The suspects weren’t able to get away because the parking garage had a security controlled gate.

Two parking garage employees saw the assault and detained a 15-year-old until police arrived on the scene. The second suspect, described as a 15-year-old wearing a dark jacket,was last seen running toward Key Highway.
Councilwoman Spector was taken to a local hospital where she was treated for her injuries.

"I am doing well and very grateful to the Baltimore City Police and Emergency Personnel members James and Brian as well as the good Samaritans working in the garage who heard my pleas for help and detained one of the suspects until an officer arrived," Spector said in a statement released Friday afternoon.
Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake also a issued statement on the incident Friday.
"I was extremely disheartened when I heard that Councilwoman Rikki Spector was the victim of a carjacking this morning," Rawlings-Blake said in a release. "I am relieved to hear that she is recovering well and still her usual feisty self, but the violence on our streets is unacceptable. Councilwoman Spector is a dear friend and colleague, and as with all incidents of violence, it is devastating when innocent people become the target of criminal behavior. For more than three decades Rikki Spector has been a jewel to the Northwest Baltimore Community, fondly known as the 'Dean to the City Council'."
