The Baltimore City Council wants to put a spotlight on human trafficking and come up with more resources to help survivors. The Education and Youth Committee hosted a hearing about it at Dunbar High School on Thursday night.

Survivor Moniquicka Sutton said drug addiction and homelessness led to her being trafficked.

"I was probably seeing 15 to 20 guys regularly," she said. "Forced against my will in order to keep me wrapped up in his game, he made me addicted to crack and heroin."

Sutton works as an advocate for the homeless and those struggling with addiction.

The council hopes to encourage young people to become advocates and be able to spot the signs of human trafficking in order to help their peers.
