BPD warning of Craigslist robbers

BALTIMORE - Officials with the Baltimore Police Department are asking those who use Craigslist to use caution. They say victims of two recent robberies were lured to locations through the popular online advertising site.

According to a press release issued Wednesday, victims were lured to the Bolton Hill community to purchase vehicles they found on Craigslist. Once there, they were reportedly confronted by three men armed with guns.

Detectives with the Baltimore Police Department suggest those using Craigslist or other similar sites to utilize the following safe online shopping measures:

1) Be sure the buyer can meet you during daylight hours.

2) Be sure the buyer can meet you in a public place.

3) Never meet a buyer alone.

4) Never bring cash (use checks/money orders).

5) Trust your instincts. If you don't feel comfortable, leave.

Anyone with information on the identity of the robbery suspect(s) in this case is asked to contact detectives at 410-396-2240. Callers may remain anonymous.
