Benefit planned in honor of dog killed by Baltimore officer

BALTIMORE - The death of this dog, caused outrage.

Nala, the 7-year-old shar-pei, was killed when witnesses say a Baltimore police officer slit her throat earlier this month. Tomorrow a memorial event will be held at Midtown Barbecue and Brew to remember the dog and speak to animal groups about how to help in the community.

That is where the dog's owner works. The event called "Justice for Nala" is set to run from 4 to 8 p.m. A portion of the restaurant's sales during that time will benefit several animal rights groups.

Officer Jeffery Bolger is accused of killing the dog, after she escaped from her home, and bit a woman in Canton. Another officer was also placed on administrative leave in connection to the case.
