Artists at the Bell Foundry were evicted from their creation space Monday, with little notice.

Emily Eaglin - a local filmmaker, activist and Bell Foundry frequenter - said residents had fewer than an hour to leave the building, forcing many artists to leave their work and possessions behind.

According to Eaglin, Baltimore City officials said safety and fire code violations were the driving force behind the eviction.

Police told residents they had 20 minutes to remove necessary items from the building, and would be able to return at a later time to collect their rest of their possessions.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help those evicted with their relocation expenses.

The Bell Foundry is located at 1539 N Calvert St. in the Station North Arts and Entertainment District near Penn Station.
