Students are taking their learning outside the classroom and into a symphony hall.

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra hosted more than 6,000 students this week for educational concerts.

The theme is 'This Land is Your Land,' celebrating the 100th birthday of America's National Parks.

It gives students the chance to experience classical music while supporting the curriculum they're learning in the classroom, said Nicholas Cohen, the Director of Community Engagement and Education Programs.

"What's amazing is the kids can see that music is a vehicle extending learning," Cohen said.

The Symphony has been holding these educational performances for more than 90 years. It's one of the longest running programs of its kind in the country.
