BALTIMORE - For the first time since 1947, Martha Graham's American Classic "Appalachian Spring" will be performed in Charm City.
The spring festival is taking place at the Baltimore School for the Arts.
This will be the first time "Appalachian Spring" will be performed by students and will feature live orchestral music. The lead roles of the Bride and Husbandman will be danced by two African American teenagers.
The ballet celebrates American pioneers from the 19th century.
The festival centered around the illustrated children's book, Ballet for Martha runs through April 16. The actual ballet will premiere on Friday, April 12 at 7 p.m. and will be performed again on Saturday at 3 p.m.
