Baltimore Police said they’re increasing patrols around local gathering places after a suspected suicide bombing killed 22 and injured 59 people at a concert in Manchester.

Police spokesperson T.J. Smith issued the following statement:

“As with all incidents of terrorism or suspected terrorism, we monitor and receive information through the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF). We have increased patrols and checks to some of our vulnerable infrastructures and facilities where large gatherings of people occur, but as always, we are asking the public to main their vigilance as acts of terrorism can occur anywhere.

The Police Commissioner has been in contact with the Mayor and her staff keeping them abreast of information as we receive it.

We extend our heartfelt sympathies to those affected by the senseless act of terrorism in Manchester.”

Victims, including an 8-year-old girl, were killed after a blast at an Ariana Grande concert at the Manchester Arena late Monday night. The bombing occurred as concertgoers filed out of the arena after the singer’s last song.

Police believe a man carrying explosives acted as a lone attacker and died in the blast. A 23-year-old man was arrested Tuesday in south Manchester in connection to the bombing, police said.
