Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and the One Baltimore for Jobs initiative launched the city’s first solar training program Monday.

The program is designed to teach people how to install and maintain solar energy systems.

There are also several certifications for trainees, who are required to have 320 hours of on-the-job training.

"He told me about certifications, skills that I would get. As the training went on, they didn't just train us on solar, they also trained us on personal development and conducting ourselves in a professional, you know, way," participant Michael Harris said.

This program came together after the U.S. Department of Labor provided the mayor's office with a grant.
