A national summit to end youth violence is being held in Baltimore.
The Fifth National Summit on Preventing Youth Violence, is a three-day event gathering mayors, law enforcement officials, educators and teens to discuss strategies for ending violence and gang activity in major cities.
The event is hosted by the National Forum on Youth Violence Prevention and the My Brother's Keeper (MBK) Task Force, initiatives launched by President Obama to prevent violence and close opportunity gaps for boys and young men of color.
More than 600 participants from more than 30 cities are set to participate in workshops on topics including the public housing system and helping communities deal with traumatic events.
Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch, Secretary of Labor Thomas Perez, and Secretary of Education John King are scheduled to attend.
The Hilton Baltimore on West Pratt Street will host the event through Wednesday.
