Leon Carter is the father of 8-year-old Amirah Kinlaw. He said life will never be same.
"She left me with great memories right now how I"m feeling is that she's still here with me," Carter said.
Kinlaw was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver Thursday afternoon.
She was leaving school near South Gilmor and West Lombard Streets when she and a crossing guard were struck by an oncoming driver. Kinlaw was taken to Johns Hopkins Pediatric where she was pronounced dead. The crossing guard was taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
"It's heartbreaking. I mean I have an 8-year-old, she'll be nine, I don't know what the parents are going through but as a mother I wouldn't know what to do with myself," resident Lenora Barksdale, said.
The suspect ran a red light, striking another driver, who is in critical condition. The suspect continued to on Gilmor Street, striking several parked cars. A 9-year-old boy was struck by debris. He was treated at an area hospital and released.
The young girl's family is remarkably calm. The memory of her, keeping them together.
"I have to stay strong for my family so all the wonderful memories of her is keeping me thriving and motivated," Carter said.
He says he got nine beautiful years with Amirah, who he affectionately calls, baby girl. Carter asks that whomever caused her death and injured the three other victims come forward.
"To the person that did it I hope you get captured and admit to his faults, do his time and bring peace to the streets," he said.

For now, he's trying to put this nightmarish scene out of his head and fill it with memories of the daughter he'll soon have to bury.
"Any time you interact with my baby girl, that's all you got was smiles, memories, joy, laughter," Carter said.
