The Baltimore City Board of Elections said it wants to make sure November's election runs smoothly, but to do so, they need more than enough election judges.

Last month, the city gave more money to the board to hire and train a thousand judges to handle the general election. Armstead Jones, director of the Board of Elections, says he hoped to have at least 3,500 judges trained for the election.

Back in April, hundreds of election judges didn't show up to city polling places and some of the ones who did show up mishandled the ballots. The state had to temporarily decertify the mayoral primary because of it -- and now they want to avoid the issue of mishandled ballots altogether.
