The Baltimore City Council is calling the Baltimore Police Department to a hearing in order to discuss their aerial surveillance program, which records footage from the sky to solve crimes.

Several have criticized the department's silence about the program, despite police insisting it was not a secret from the public.

The program, launched in January, was unknown by the public until a Bloomberg article revealed its existence earlier this week.

The program has been credited with solving a murder case at the McCulloh homes last month using grainy images taken by cameras on the Cessna plane.
