At least two demonstrators were detained Wednesday after the announcement of a hung jury in the trial of Officer William Porter.

Porter is the first of six officers charged in the death of Freddie Gray to go to trial.

Sheriff's deputies detained a juvenile as well as local activist Darius Kwame Rosebrough, better known as Kwame Rose, who was using a bullhorn outside Courthouse East.

It wasn't immediately clear if the bullhorn was why Kwame Rose was detained, but the use of bullhorns during protests has caught the attention of deputies before.

Baltimore activist Adam Jackson with Leaders of a Beautiful Struggle said he saw someone was taken into custody in the area of the courthouse shortly before 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

"A young black man was detained by the Baltimore City Sheriff's Department," Jackson said.

Jackson said he came out to support those who are demonstrating.

"I'm a person that supports people who want to demonstrate, that's why I'm out here. I think people should be mad and they should be allowed to express politically whatever they want through any demonstration, but ultimately I think that we need to focus on the long-term, systemic changes that are necessary to change, to make sure that police are held accountable here in the state of Maryland," Jackson said.
