The classic holiday movie 'A Christmas Story' is coming to life on the Hippodrome stage in Baltimore.

The movie debuted on the big screen 33 years ago, and has since been turned into a musical. Now, the drama of 11-year-old Ralphie Parker and his big Christmas wish are played out on stage.

"Ralphie is my son. We have two actors playing the role of Ralphie. It's a very demanding role for a child of 11-12 years old. He's like a lot of us are at the age, where we had this one important thing, more important than anything else in the world," Christopher Swan, who plays the role of the old man, said.

Those familiar with the movie know Ralphie wants a Red Ryder BB gun under the tree on Christmas more than anything else.

"I think that families will love it. I think if you're a fan of the movie, you'll love it. If you don't even know the movie, you'll love it. You'll love this play," Swan said.

'A Christmas Story: The Musical' is playing at the Hippodrome through Dec. 11.
