Seven companies in Baltimore were awarded more than $550,000 for innovation.

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake announced the one-time funding from the Baltimore Development Corporation Innovation Fund to the Mayor's Technology and Entrepreneurship Initiative.

"The technology and entrepreneurship initiative complements my early investments in the emerging technology centers, the small business resource center, the mayor's office of minority and women owned businesses," Rawlings-Blake said.

The goal of the funding is to position Baltimore for job growth in industries of the future.
