A 6-year-old was hit by a SUV in the 4100 block of Glenarm Avenue at approximately 5:40 p.m. Sunday.
Family members tell ABC2, his name is Naree Coleman.
Medics transported Coleman to Johns Hopkins Pediatric unit where he was admitted and listed in critical condition. The boy died from his injuries on Monday.
"I want some justice because i lost my 6 year old son," said his mother, Tonya Shedrick.
According to investigators, the driver of a 2005 Honda Pilot was traveling eastbound on Glenarm Avenue when the child ran from between two parked vehicles on the south side of the street. The vehicle struck the child and the driver remained on scene. Police said the driver did not appear to be impaired or under the influence of alcohol or narcotics.
"He was outside being a typical kid and this car comes speeding down the street in front of his own door," said his cousin Sakena Saunders.
"We just want an apology she didn't try to stop, she didn't want to say sorry to my cousin," Saunders continued.
Investigators say the driver did stop after the crash.
"You could at least apologize to me because you killed my son. You smashed his head until he died," Shendrick said.
Now, all this family can do is work to make what they call a dangerous street, a little safer for those who call it home.
"Make this a one way street put some more stop signs around here because it's a small street and there's a lot of kids and there's not a lot of space for them," Saunders said.
Police say the driver, who's yet to be identified, did not appear to be impaired or under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Crash team officers are trying to determine fault at this time.
