BALTIMORE (WMAR) -- Baltimore City School officials are investigating the cause of 5 fires in two days at the Friendship Academy of Science and Technology.
Officials say the charter school was victim of five trash can fires this week, two on Wednesday and three on Thursday. There was also a report of an injured administrator and student arrest.
Now the school system will increase the presence of school police and district staff for extra safety and support.
A staff member at the school was also taken to a local hospital this week after he attempted to break up an altercation between students. While his exact injuries were not released, he is expected to survive.
A student was also arrested this week by a City Police officer while the school was evacuated.
Now, the school system is taking several measures to increase safety, including grade-level meetings and increased staff.
