BALTIMORE - Three people are dead, including two small children, after a fire raced through a row house in south Baltimore.
Fire crews were called to the 4100 block of Grace Court in Curtis Bay just after 4 a.m. When units arrived flames were coming from first and second floors of the house.
Baltimore City Fire Department Spokesman Ian Brennan confirmed that two small children and a man died in the blaze. According to Brennan, an unidentified person escaped the flames by jumping from the second floor. That person was taken to Shock Trauma with life threatening injuries.
“This is a terrible tragedy for the family and the community,” said Brennan. “But this community knows each other and is pulling together to support the family.”
The bodies have been taken to the office of the medical examiner to determine the cause of death.
In addition to the deaths, 10 people were displaced by the fire and three homes were condemned.
Neighborhood services and the Red Cross are assisting people who lost their homes.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
