Woman stabbed at Arundel Mills, suspect arrested after chase into Baltimore City

HANOVER, Md. - A woman shopping at Arundel Mills was stabbed as a man attempted to take her purse Friday.

Officials with the Anne Arundel County Police Department say the incident happened at about 3:02 p.m. near the Neiman Marcus Last Call.

A 36-year-old woman was taken to a hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. In the midst of a struggle for her purse with the assailant, she was stabbed in the hand.

Officials say there were several witnesses that spotted the suspect jumping in a vehicle. As witnesses reported the incident and provided a vehicle description, officer in the area were alerted.

A Maryland State Police Trooper noticed the green Acura SUV driving northbound on 295 near 695 and tried conducting a traffic stop.

Police say the suspect, identified as 49-yea-old Broderick Bennett of Baltimore County, chose not to stop and led them on a chase that ended in Baltimore City.

During the chase, police explain that Bennett hit the side of a building, ditched the car, and was soon after arrested by a State Police Trooper.

Bennett has since been transported into the custody of the Anne Arundel County Police Department where he is expected to be charged with armed robbery, first and second degree assault and related charges.
