DUNKIRK, Md. - A single-family home was destroyed Tuesday following a two-alarm fire in Dunkirk.
Anne Arundel County Fire Department officials said that just before 2 p.m., multiple 911 calls were made reporting a dwelling fire in the 6200 block of McKendree Rd. Firefighters reported a two-story home well involved in fire and immediately requested a second alarm.
It took 47 firefighters from Anne Arundel, Prince George's, Calvert, and Queen Anne's counties about two hours to bring the incident under control. One occupant at home at the time of the fire was able to escape with no injuries. It is unclear at this time if there were any working smoke alarms.
The fire caused approximately $400,000 in total damages. At this time the cause is undermined and remains under investigation.
