A teenager is dead after a head-on crash in Anne Arundel County Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the deadly crash happened around 3:45 p.m. on Old Southern Maryland Boulevard near Sands Road in Lothian.
Police said a Honda Civic driven by Stephanie Muller of Lothian was going north on Old Southern Boulevard when it crossed into the southbound lane and hit a Chevrolet Express van head-on.
Muller, 18, was thrown from the Honda and declared dead at the scene. The driver of the van was flown to Prince George’s Hospital Center with serious injuries.
Police said the primary cause of the crash is the Honda driver’s failure to drive right of center. Excessive speed is also believed to be a factor.
The Traffic Safety Section is investigating.
