Anne Arundel County Executive Steve Schuh unveiled his FY2018 budget proposal Thursday, which includes an incremental increase for county school system employees.
The budget proposal includes $15.6 million to fund compensation increases that would begin July 1.
"For the third year in a row, we are committed to pay increases for our teachers," Schuh said.
Schuh's proposal also includes $7.5 million to be used for one-time payments to help cover health insurance premiums for school system employees.
Over the next two years, the school system agreed to redirect $8 million to the health care fund, in addition to the county's agreement of $10 million.
The county executive will include the agreement when he formally submits the budget proposal on May 1. It will go to the County Council for approval.
