Seven students with special needs were given the opportunity to continue their education, thanks in part to a non-profit grant.
Seven Anne Arundel County students were awarded scholarships by the Michael Cardin Scholarship Committee of the Maryland Association of Nonpublic Special Education Facilities, according to a release from Anne Arundel County Public Schools.
The scholarship recipients include:
- Donald Rearic III of Glen Burnie
- John Good of Glen Burnie
- Brenna McBride of Millersville
- Benjamin Boro of Severna Park
- Ryan Karn of Severna Park
- Georgina Prenatt of Edgewater
- Nicholas Wilkerson of Millersville
Students can use the scholarships for academic institutions, personal enrichment and trade school, according the the press release.
Mary Tillar, AACPS Executive Director of Special Education, and Linda Donahue, Acting Coordinator of Interagency and Nonpublic Placements, released a statement:
"We are extremely proud of the accomplishments of the Anne Arundel County Public Schools students attending MANSEF-accredited nonpublic schools. The recognition of the students' efforts in their pursuit of college, career, and community goals is to be applauded. We greatly appreciate the recognition and support provided by MANSEF through the Cardin Scholarships."
