A 23-year-old man suffered serious injuries when he was hit by a car while skateboarding early Saturday morning.

Anne Arundel County Police said Ramon Doral Taylor, 23, was skateboarding on westbound Route 175 when he was struck by a 2004 Lexus driven by Eugene Aloyius Stewart, 39, of Crofton.

The crash happened around 4:30 a.m. Saturday. Taylor was wearing all dark clothing. He suffered head trauma and multiple fractures, and was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma in serious condition.

Stewart was not injured.

The preliminary cause of the crash appears to be pedestrian error. Traffic Safety is handling the investigation.
