Annapolis area restaurants are rallying behind the Annapolis Yacht Club after a devastating fire Saturday afternoon.

Rams Head Group is offering jobs to AYC employees who have temporarily lost theirs as a result of the fire, and Stan and Joe’s Saloon is offering the use of its banquet room for holiday parties originally booked for the club.

And Blackwall Hitch, just across the Spa Creek Bridge from AYC, has set out a collection jar at the bar for anyone who wishes to donate to help with rebuilding.

“It was kind of a no-brainer for us,” said Emily Welsh, an assistant manager at Rams Head Tavern in Annapolis. “It’s the Annapolis community, and it’s the right thing to do.”

Rams Head Group, which has restaurants in Annapolis, Savage Mill, Crownsville and Stevensville, is encouraging workers to apply at any of the locations.

"We are happy to welcome AYC employees to join the Rams Head family at any of our locations, for as long as they need,” read a message posted on the Annapolis Partnership Facebook page. “We can find a way to work them into our schedules. Please have them email careers@ramsheadgroup.com."

Applicants can also stop in at any of the locations with a resume and two forms of identification and apply in person, Welsh said.

She said they’ve had a few applicants so far.

Stan and Joe’s Saloon, whose Annapolis location is next to Rams Head, has an upstairs room that’s perfect for parties, said Joe McGovern, co-owner of the bar.

McGovern said he’s reached out to AYC management to see if they would like to use it for holiday parties.

“They can staff it,” he said. “I’m not looking to make money out of it.”

McGovern said there’s also the possibility of employment for AYC workers, especially doormen and hosts.

“We’ll do everything we can to accommodate them,” he said.

He’s not surprised area businesses are stepping up to help out AYC.

“This community is so tight,” he said. “There’s lots and lots of love. It is a competition, but at the end of the day, it’s a friendly competition.”
