A race rally is set to take place Sunday in light of recent racial incidents across the state of Maryland.
The rally will support Councilman Pete Smith’s proposal to the Governor and Annapolis Mayor for a “State of Emergency on race relations” in Maryland.
The call began with the killing of Lieutenant Richard Collins III on the campus of College Park and several nooses found at an Anne Arundel County School.

Carl Snowden, convener of the Caucus of African American Leaders, said if a state of emergency was declared by the Mayor, County Executive, or Mayor it would be the first time ever.
Other groups are planning to protest racism in Maryland as well such as the NAACP, Action Annapolis, Take Action AAC and WISE.
The rally will be held at the Alex Haley-Kunta Kinte Memorial on the Annapolis City Dock on Sunday, June 25, at 2:30 p.m.
