HARWOOD, Md. - The principal of Southern High School has been located by Anne Arundel County police after being reported missing Tuesday by relatives.
Anne Arundel County police spokesman Lt. T.J. Smith said Marc Procaccini has been located and is safe.
Southern assistant principal Mike May sent out a letter to parents Wednesday after a blog site published information that was not confirmed regarding Procaccini and caused major panic in the community.
Smith confirmed that Procaccini, was listed as missing, but they say he was granted a leave of absence from the school district. They investigated the case as a 'check well being' case, because of the attention the situation drummed up on social media.
Smith said they consider the matter closed.
"As earlier stated, we will respect privacy and no further information related to this matter will be provided," Smith said in a news release.
