HANOVER, Md. -
Anne Arundel County Police identified the motorcyclist killed Saturday morning when he rear ended a truck on Rt. 100.
Police said James Henderson, 27, of La Plata was riding his 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle west on Rt. 100 near 295 when he ran into the back of a box truck also traveling west on Rt. 100. The crash happened around 5:40 a.m.
Henderson was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma where he died of his injuries.
Witnesses said the motorcycle was speeding when it changed lanes and rammed into the back of the truck.
The driver of the box truck was not hurt.
A preliminary investigation shows that speed is a contributing factor in the crash. It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were factors.
The investigation is ongoing.
