Annapolis Police confirmed the creepy clown sightings reported by several children Monday was actually a hoax.
Police told ABC2 that teachers overheard a group of children ages 7 to 9 talking about the false report, and contacted officials.
Officers went back to interview the children who then admitted that the clown sightings were made up.

The children originally reported seeing clowns with face paint around 8:30 a.m. Monday on Bens Drive. They told officers that the sightings began on September 15 in different neighborhoods throughout the area.
