ANNAPOLIS - In light of all the tragedies on the water recently, this couldn't have come at a better time.
Life jacket stands are set up in spots where a lot of boaters go in the Annapolis area. The stations offer free life jackets for boats who them for a day on the water.
Two are set up at Sandy Point State Park, one is at Truxton Park, and two others are in place at City Dock in Annapolis.
The Coast Guard says many tragedies on the water can be prevented in people wore life jackets. The new stands are sponsored by the Annapolis Boating Safety Partnership, whose goal is to promote safe boating practices.
In the past few months, there have been numerous boating incidents that have caused Maryland officials to address them.
The Associated Press reported that there were 28 boating incidents in the beginning of July .
