ARNOLD, Md. - More than 10,000 gallons of wastewater spilled into Mill Creek in Arnold Tuesday night, officials with Anne Arundel County’s Department of Public Works said.
Officials said the sewer overflow at the Mill Creek Pump Station has been contained. But the cause of the overflow and the exact amount of wastewater that ended up in the creek hasn’t been determined.
The spill began around 10:26 p.m.
The affected area was limed and vacuumed. Anyone coming in contact with the water should immediately wash well with soap and warm water, DPW officials said. Clothing should also be washed.
An investigation is continuing.
