A new facility aiming to defend and protect the Air Force and U.S. critical infrastructure against cyber attacks had its groundbreaking on Thursday.

The facility will be the 175th Cyberspace Operations Squadron Facility and Governor Larry Hogan was the keynote speaker at the event.

The new building will be a single story, 9,000 square foot facility and will cost $6.6 million. It will give operational and command space for missions aligned to the state of Maryland, the National Security Agency, and the United States Cyber Command.

Their overall mission is to help the state and local government agencies to prevent cyber attacks and to conduct cyber exploitation and attack operations.
