Man, 19, dies after crashing dirt bike in Glen Burnie

GLEN BURNIE, Md. - A 19-year-old Glen Burnie man died Tuesday after crashing his dirt bike into a Lexus over the weekend, Anne Arundel County police confirmed.

Calvin Ronshaye Savoy, 19, was illegally driving his Yamaha YZ dirt bike on Crain Highway when he careened into the sedan that was making a left turn on Jackson Avenue NW. Police said neither Savoy nor his passenger were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

Police also noted that Savoy was unlicensed and riding without lights at 11:15 p.m., the time of the crash.

The passenger, another 19-year-old Glen Burnie man, sustained non-life threatening injuries. The Lexus driver was treated by paramedics for minor injuries at the site of the crash.

Savoy was taken to Shock Trauma where he was pronounced dead Tuesday.

Officials ruled the cause of the accident “error by the dirt bike driver.”

“On September 2, 2014, Calvin Ronshaye Savoy, the operator of the dirt bike in this case was pronounced dead at the University of Maryland Medical Center from injuries received in this crash,” according to Anne Arundel County police. “The investigation into this crash is ongoing and is being handled by the Traffic Safety Section.”
