ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WMAR) - As of Friday morning at 10 a.m. BGE was listing less than 100 customers without power, but on Thursday night at around 10, there were more than 46,000 power outages in Anne Arundel County.
Police told ABC2 News that the area around Annapolis Mall was badly affected by the outages.
A BGE spokesperson says they lost two feeder lines that serve nearly 50,000 customers in Annapolis, Cedar Park, and Bethgate.
Gas and electric crews have determined what they believe to be the main issue that caused the outages.
Workers are still trying to determine if it is safe for them to make repairs.
Anne Arundel County Fire is responding to several commercial and residential areas for alarms sounding and downed wires.
Fire crews say that there have been no reports of fires or injuries in relation to the outages.
People who live in the area say they witnessed huge flashes in the sky.
Power has been restored to nearly 11,000 costumers.
