Lightning struck the Maryland State House in Annapolis when storms blew through the area Friday afternoon.

Gov. Larry Hogan tweeted he was "very thankful" it wasn't worse.
The Annapolis Fire Department said crews were dispatched to the State House for a reported fire. There was no smoke or fire, but the fire protection system was activated and the sprinkler water mist looked like smoke to many bystanders, leading to some confusion.
No injuries were reported, and firefighters cleared the scene within an hour.
