ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Former Anne Arundel County Executive John Leopold will be sentenced this week.
Prosecutors are not seeking jail time for Leopold because of health reasons and his age... The former county exec is 70 years old.
Instead they're asking he pay a 100-thousand dollar fine, be on 5 years probation, and serve 500 hours of community service.
Back in January Leopold was found guilty of two counts of misconduct in office.
Those charges stem from Leopold using his taxpayer funded police detail to run errands, drain his catheter bag, and forcing staffers to do campaign work.
Leopold resigned after he was convicted. In a sentencing memo prosecutors say Leopold's conduct deserves time in jail but they are not recommending it.
They're seeking a one year suspended sentence in turn for supervised probation until he the fine and completes community service.
