High bacteria levels leads to warning against swimming at Annapolis pier

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Anne Arundel County Department of Health issued an advisory to avoid swimming, jet skiing, water skiing and other direct water contact for the Bay Ridge Community at Lake Ogleton Clubhouse Pier in Annapolis due to high levels of bacteria in water samples.

The samples collected on June 9 (262 mpn*/100 milliliters of water) and June 11 (133 mpn/100 ml) exceeded the EPA standard of 104 mpn/100 ml. The Department of Health has posted signs along the area. The site on Lake Ogleton will be resampled on June 16.

The Department of Health advises people coming in contact with the affected water to wash well with soap and warm, clean water immediately. Clothing should also be washed.
