The man who took over for former Anne Arundel County executive John Leopold says he wants to finish out the rest of the term.
Acting county executive John Hammond made the announcement Friday but said he would only seek to finish the current term. He has no plans to run for another term in 2014.
Hammond says one of his first tasks is dealing with county employees who had to work through the investigation and trial.
Filing for Leopold's job, which was opened last month after he was found guilty of misconduct in office, ended at noon Friday.
Among 16 who have tossed out their name in interest are former Maryland first lady Kendel Ehrlich and state delegate Steve Schuh.
Anne Arundel County council plans to pick a replacement for Leopold on Thursday, February 21.
