GLEN BURNIE, Md. - Separate fires in Glen Burnie and Maryland City Tuesday left four people displaced.
In the first incident just after 6 p.m., firefighters responded to the 8000 block of Big Pool Road in Maryland City. The first unit to arrive on the scene reported smoke and fire from the roof of a two-story single family home.
Firefighters immediately requested additional resources bringing a total of 29 personnel to the scene from Prince George’s, Howard County, Fort Meade and Anne Arundel County. The incident was brought under control in 30 minutes.
The fire caused $10,000 in damage to the home and no injuries were reported. Two adults and one juvenile were displaced as a result of the fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Less than 15 minutes later, firefighters responded to a second incident in the 7800 block of Gordon Court in Glen Burnie. Upon arrival, firefighters received a report of a kitchen fire with sprinkler activation on the third floor of a mid-rise building in the Pinewood Complex. That fire was brought under control in 15 minutes.
One resident was transported by ambulance to Harbor Hospital with minor injuries. The fire was contained to the single apartment of origin, was deemed an accident and caused $12,000 in damage.
