Massive flooding in Louisiana left over a dozen people killed and many others displaced.

An Edgewater man wanted to do something about it, so, Friday evening, he's packing a truck full of donated goods and driving down to help out.

Clean drinking water, food and toiletries are things Moses Wells said he didn't have when Hurricane Isabel wiped out his home more than a decade ago, so now, out of a bridal shop on the outskirts of town he holds plenty of it.

"I know what it feels like to start from zero," Wells, who works as a fisherman, said.

All of the donations came by way of strangers. It started after Wells got a plea for help from a friend in Louisiana. A call was put out on social media, and Wells said the response has been tremendous.

"If I was in need, I would hope someone else would donate whatever they could to help me out," Emily Bishop, who drove from Glen Burnie after she got off work to drop off supplies, said.

The entire effort was being shared among Wells' family, as the bridal shop providing temporary storage for the donations, Lace & Love Bridal Boutique, is owned by his wife, Cindy.

She said she donated a portion of her sales to help fund her husbands drive to Louisiana.

"It's been trying at times," she said. "We're just two people who have the time and the means to help."

In the bible, Moses was the man that lead the Israelites from bondage. When he hits the road tomorrow, Wells will be delivering liberation.

"I do what I'm good at, and apparently me and my wife are pretty good at raising funds for people who need it," Wells said.

Wells said he intends to return to Louisiana in the future with more donations, and perhaps even furniture to further help people as they return to their damaged homes.
