Dwyer's motion for less jail time fails

Del. Don Dwyer will stay in jail… for now.

Dwyer, who was sentenced for driving while impaired and boating under the influence, made an attempt to get his time reduced by filing a request to modify the 60-day sentence last month.

Retired Harford County Circuit Court Judge Emory Plitt denied Dwyer's request this week.

At his sentencing in October, Plitt ordered Dwyer to serve 60 days consecutively, on weekends. Dwyer began serving the sentence last month.

Seven people were injured in August when Dwyer's boat collided with another vessel on the Magothy River. Dwyer's blood-alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit.
