Driver in dirt bike collision operating illegally, police say

GLEN BURNIE, Md. - The driver of a dirt bike sustained life-threatening injuries after he collided with a vehicle in Glen Burnie Saturday night.

Anne Arundel County police said the accident happened around 11:15 p.m. at Crain Highway North and Jackson Avenue Northwest.

Police said the driver of the Yamaha YZ dirt bike, Calvin Ronshaye Savoy, wasn’t licensed and his dirt bike was unregistered.

Savoy was traveling south on Crain Highway toward Jackson Avenue without lights at the same time a Lexus sedan was traveling north on Crain Highway and making a left turn onto Jackson Avenue.

The driver of the Lexus, Vincent Cornelius Gordon III, didn’t see the dirt bike, and the bike collided with the passenger side of the Lexus.

Savoy and his passenger, Charles William Sheffield, were ejected from the bike. Savoy was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma, where he is listed in critical condition. Sheffield sustained non-life threatening injuries and is in stable condition.  Neither Savoy nor Sheffield were wearing protective gear, including helmets.

Gordon sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics.
