Doomsday Clock counting down

The state education program is watching each passing second of the "Doomsday" clock and marking time.

The clock represents when the state's so called "doomsday" budget will go into effect, July 1st.

They say if all the cuts take place, education will be hit severely.

According to the group, Anne Arundel County stands to lose $13.7 million in revenue.

Baltimore County - $14.2 million and Baltimore City stands to lose almost $60 million in state aid for education.

If state legislators fail to act before July 1st, the "Doomsday Budget" will cut more than $500 million dollars from public schools, law enforcement, libraries and higher education.

Educators want legislators to come back in a special session and get a budget together that can raise revenue and contain less cuts.
