Police: Kids report spotting creepy clowns in Annapolis

After a series of creepy clown sightings reported across the country, the freaky phenomenon has reached Maryland.

Over the summer, there have been reports is seven states— South Carolina, North Carolina, Ohio, Florida, Wisconsin,  Georgia, Tennessee and now Maryland, of clowns trying to lure children into wooded areas.

Annapolis police said several children reported seeing clowns with face paint on September 19.

The children told police the sightings started back on September 15 in different neighborhoods. Incidents were reported in the 700 block of Newtowne Drive, Bens Drive near Victor Parkway, and the 1400 block of Tyler Avenue.  The most recent sighting reportedly occurred around 8:30 a.m. on September 19 on Bens Drive.

Police said only children have reported seeing the clowns.

Police are warning residents to call 911 if they see a person dressed in a clown costume in an unusual place.
