Residents in Cape Saint Claire were caught up in Wednesday's accident in Anne Arundel County that killed two people, sent a toddler to the hospital and snarled traffic for hours. But when they heard it was one of their neighbors, they wanted to know just what happened.
The crash claimed the lives of Robert Skidmore, 66, and Laura Murphy, 22. A 14-month-old boy survived the accident. He was in good condition Wednesday at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Skidmore lived in the tight-knit Cape St. Claire community.
"It's a small community. I'm sure he came in here once or twice. I've noticed the name," said Jay Vizzini of Vizzini's Pizza.
Police say Murphy was driving the wrong way on Route 50 Wednesday causing the crash that killed them both.
"There was just a car coming head on down all three lanes eastbound, and it was going westbound in our lanes of traffic and it was totally out of control," one witness told a 911 operator. Another reported, "I'm on Route 50 east at exit 29A, lots of traffic. A car just went the wrong way! Heading toward the Severn River Bridge, dodging traffic."

Eric, who lives nearby, said traffic was backed up for hours. "It was only like three cars here another two cars, you could tell they were only letting a few at a time."
"Anything tragic that happens, it's a shame it hurts everybody. I just want to give my condolences to his family and friends and anyone affected by the accident," Vizzini said.
Maryland State Police are asking witnesses, friends or family for relevant information on the crash.
