There has been good news about the crab population and oysters in our bay lately, and Sen. Ben Cardin wants that to continue.

He came to Annapolis Monday to meet with members of environmental organizations. Cardin is concerned about threats against the Clean Water Rule to protect the bay.

Cardin wants the federal government to have a greater role in the clean up of the Bay.

"The Bay's a national treasure. It's part of our way of life. It is what we are all so proud of but, we have to pay attention to it and all of us can to do a better job to make sure that it is protected  for future generations," Cardin said.

The group met at the Annapolis Maritime Museum, where McNasby's Oyster Packing Co. was the last remaining oyster packing plant in the area.
