Officials say a bicyclist was struck by a distracted driver in Anne Arundel County on Saturday.
The incident occurred around 10:29 in the morning on Solomon’s Island road just north of Southern High School.
Police say the driver of a 1999 Chevrolet was distracted by other occupants of the vehicle and began traveling on the shoulder of the roadway before coming in contact with a bicyclist traveling south.
After being struck, the man on the bicycle separated from his bike just before hitting the guard rail.
Anne Arundel County Police arrived to the scene and cited the female driver for traffic violations.
An unidentified man was transported to Shock Trauma for non-life threatening injuries. He is expected to be released from the hospital today.
